Location: Tunisia
Summary: In 2011, UAF-Africa was the first African human rights Fund to carry out an outreach mission in Tunisia while the revolution was going on. Identifying the need for women’s inclusion in post revolution processes that would ensue, UAF-Africa in her characteristic rapid response nature, made a grant to Tunisia.

The grant which was to Association “Engagement Citoyen” (Citizen Engagement) was to mobilize women to participate in the elections and advocate for their rights within the new administration. Over 45% of the registered voters were women which made it more critical to reach out to these women to stand up and defend their rights and strategically position themselves during the elections.
