Urgent Action Fund-Africa (UAF-Africa), representing UAF and UAF Latin America, is thrilled to announce that the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has selected our Count Me In! Consortium as part of it’s 2016 – 2020 “Dialogue and Dissent” Partnership framework. Through this initiative the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs will enter into strategic partnerships for advocacy capacity building with civil society and human rights organisations in low and middle-income countries.
We’re happy to share that UAF–Africa, in partnership with five other leading feminist organisations has been chosen as one of the Ministry’s 25 strategic partners in raising voice and challenging the status quo.
In the next five years, the feminist consortium will build the capacity of organisations and activists representing women most affected by injustice and discrimination so that their voices can be heard, and their stories told just as loudly as everyone who is already at the table. Through this partnership we’ll be working hard to ensure women’s rights organisations are able to participate in decision and policy making processes, globally, regionally and locally on issues that are most pertinent to them.
Our partners in the global Count Me In! Consortium include Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID, Canada), CREA (India), Just Associates (JASS, USA), all five of us are led by Mama Cash (The Netherlands). “UAF-Africa is grateful for the show of confidence the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has afforded the global women & trans’ rights movement. This initiative is a clear illustration of the POWER of collaboration; an avenue through which global feminist organising offers an opportunity to expand the areas of elevating women & trans people’s voices and visibility in strategic decision and policy making spaces, unleash their capacities, seize opportunities that enable respect, promotion and protection of women & trans people’s human rights everywhere, every time,” says Ndana Bofu-Tawamba, Executive Director of UAF-Africa.
We’re excited about the change we can effect together through this long-term strategic relationship through to 2020 and beyond! Stay tuned as the work begins!
